Oman landscape, culture and action photographer — based in Muscat
I came to photography the long way round. A camera bought for family holidays turned into early starts on the Mutrah corniche, then into sixteen years of chasing the two ends of the day across this country — the hour before the sun clears the Hajar mountains, and the hour after it drops into the Gulf.
What holds my attention is the meeting of light and ordinary life. A fisherman working the rocks while the sky turns. A potter's hands at the wheel. The quiet of a fort wall that has watched the same bay for four hundred years. I shoot landscapes and seascapes, but the frames I keep coming back to usually have a person somewhere in them.
The work has appeared on the cover of the Oman Observer's National Day edition and in a regional photographers' coffee-table book. These days I take on commissioned assignments, sell prints, and licence images from an archive that now runs to thousands of frames of Oman.
Photography is not my day job — I spend my working hours in the lubricants business — and I think that has kept it honest. I photograph what I want to photograph, and I am selective about the work I take on. If what you see here fits what you need, I would like to hear about it.
